Meet Your Therapist
At Hue Therapy, we believe that healing starts with connection. As a native English speaker and licensed psychotherapist, I have years of experience in private practice and have worked with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
My name is Kerimé, I'm the founder of ( Hue Therapy ).
For as long as I can remember, I have been drawn to understanding the relationship between thoughts, emotions and behaviours that exist within all of us. I held a special interest in how these manifest during childhood/adolescence and how it shapes our development and the unique formation of the self.
This curiosity led me to complete a Bachelor of Social Science, majoring in Youth Work. I specialised in working with young people, many of whom were from disadvantaged backgrounds and marginalised communities. I then had years of experience (6+ years) working for both Government and Non-for-Profit Organisations where I provided forensic therapeutic intervention and case management. This work involved navigating the complexities of the social and judicial systems within Australia, whilst maintaining a person-centred and trauma informed approach.

Kerimé Abay
Counsellor | Psychotherapist MPF
(BASocialSC, Masters in Counselling)
What I found most rewarding was counselling young people and their families to navigate relationships with themselves, others, their communities and natural environment.
Inspired by this work experience, I completed a Masters Degree in Counselling after which I took on a new role as a Family and Relationship Therapist. I’m a registered practitioner in both Australia and Denmark
I wholeheartedly believe helping people cultivate self compassion and a greater connection to self is key to healing and maintaining healthy relationships.
My approach is rooted in emotion focused therapy and integratvie approach. Therapy isn’t about fixing – it’s about understanding. It’s about creating a space where you feel heard, validated, and empowered to make meaningful changes in your everyday life.

What happens during the first counselling session?
The purpose of this session is about getting to know your therapist and figuring out if they are the right fit for you. Much research has shown that the relationship between a client and therapist is a core building block for success. Your first session will typically involve you verbalising why you have come to therapy, clarifying some of your goals, then getting to know your therapist by learning about the work they do. You are welcome to share whatever you are experiencing and what you feel comfortable sharing.
What can I expect to happen during our time together?
When you come to Hue Therapy, your first session will be spent with you and your therapist getting to know each other and defining clear goals for your counselling journey. Leading on from this, you will be asked about your personal history with a view to contextualising any difficulties you are facing.
Regardless of what you’re dealing with, you will be received in a warm and caring environment where you will be assisted and encouraged to explore and share your experiences. During your sessions, you will at times be directed to stop and acknowledge how the physical feelings of what you are talking about manifest in your body. This is intended to bring your awareness into the present and notice feelings you might not be aware of.
These physical feeling states may then be explored with regard to your past experiences and relationships with a view to questioning their origin. You will then be assisted in developing tools and strategies that will help you manage emotional triggers so that you can start to feel safer in your body and gain greater control over your feelings.
